Prayer

A 28-minute audio excerpt about "Prayer" from Brent's Spiritual Training Course. Discussing all aspects of prayer and with helpful prayer samples etc.

Prayer is something that was foreign to me until age 21. In fact, with my maths and mainframe computing focussed brain that runs at one hundred miles an hour, it seemed to me that we could only navigate the world in our own power.

As it turned out, I was wrong, very very wrong...

Once I began to meditate, subtle changes happened to me. Eventually, I began to have spiritual experiences, to the foreign and radical point, after five years of disciplined meditation, of actually seeing Jesus, Mary, Buddha, Krishna and many other deities. I am not going to speak here about whether or not all of them are helpful or otherwise; however, I will now speak just a little about the power of Grace through prayer.

I began praying for myself at first, and due to extremely difficult circumstances that I was going through, I was able to measure and see the results of those prayers. Of course, it easy to write off the first few miracles as just coincidences... though what perturbed me, and in fact became a form of deep faith as the years passed by, was when the miracles continued on and on, where I would have things happen to me, that simply were not happening to the people around me in the same circumstances.

For you see, what I discovered is that Grace is supernatural. It cannot be seen. It cannot be controlled. You cannot demand for it. You simple have to pray. And in the meantime, while you are waiting for the fruits of your prayers, you need to stay busy and be kind and helpful to others, and keep a mindset of "I don't know how, where, when or even why, but my prayers WILL be answered."

It is also extremely important to keep an attitude of "I don't mind what happens", for this allows Grace to make it's way, in God's timing, carefully manifested in ways that are higher and greater than utilising our own power and force to try to make life happen the way that we want it.
